La Mariposa

We got to go to a wedding this weekend! Super fun - I love weddings. It was Aurora's first. AND I think its pretty cool, because it was at La Mariposa - where Nick and I got married.

It was really windy which Aurora wasn't the biggest fan of. Wind really scares her - she gasps for breath when it blows in her face. It's pretty funny, but I feel bad for her. So we spent most of the ceremony standing up in the back and then inside when she couldn't take anymore. And then she didn't want to go to sleep because she was so wound up so we spent most of the reception standing too. But it was still fun :)

Teething

Well, Aurora is definitely teething and not enjoying it. I can see little teeth poking through her bottom gums - not the ones in the middle - the two on either side of the middle. Looks like she is going to hang bottom fangs first. Should be cute. But I feel bad for her - she's having a pretty hard time with it - a couple times a day she will scream uncontrollably for about 10 minutes and then she exhausts herself so she falls asleep - its sad :(

In other baby development news, she has started lifting her head up when she is on her back - its like she's trying to do sit-ups. She still hates tummy time so I'm happy that at least she is trying this - anything to help strengthen that neck...

So that's my little update for now :)

Backache

So I woke up yesterday morning with an awful backache. It hurts pretty bad - pretty hard to move and it hurts when I breathe - that sort of thing. I was wondering what I did to it, but after spending a day doing the usual, I think I have a few hypotheses...

It could be the extra milk weight I'm carrying around...

It could be the hours I spend bouncing and holding a 14lb baby...

It could be lifting that 14lb baby in that jumbo carrier (making it at least 20lbs I'm sure) into and out of the car, shopping cart, etc...

It could be the time I spend driving with one arm in the back seat trying to keep the pacifer in Aurora's mouth so she will stop crying...

It could be the 2+ hours I spend sleeping on the floor in her room every night...

It could be the bending over and taking her in and out of her crib, bouncer, floor, etc...

It could be the other countless hours that I spend sitting on the floor, hunched over and playing with her...

Not really sure :) It could just be that everything I do everyday contributes to my back hurting... and I don't forsee any of that changing anytime soon, so I'm not sure what to do about it...

Yeah - it still hurts today too, even worse than yesterday. I'm hoping with it being the weekend maybe I will get a little break and hopefully feel better by Monday.

2 in a row

I was going through pictures and I thought this one was cute. This was from when Aurora was 12 weeks. I can't believe she is 15 weeks already. Her 4 month check up is almost here!

This is from Daddy's baseball game this weekend. (Side note - I'm pretty sure she doesn't like baseball - she does not behave well during games...)

OK, and this is one that she is going to hate me for some day. This was also taken this weekend - she's a healthy baby!!!! :)

I'm so proud of myself because I have now posted 2 days in a row. Not like they are big posts, but hey - progress!

Congrats, Brittany!

Just wanted to say another huge congratulations to my best buddy Brittany who graduated from the UofA nursing school this Friday! Her hard work has paid off and she is done with school - hooray!!!!!

Aurora and I attended the ceremony and she made it through without any serious fussing, but we did spend a lot of time bouncing in the back...

Happy Mother's Day!

Happy Mothers Day to all the mommys and mommys to be! I am so blessed to know so many wonderful mothers - my own, my grandma, my aunts, the family I inherited when I married Nick, and I have some really awesome friends that are great mothers. All of whom are great examples to me and people that I really look up to. I can only hope that I am half as good a mother as they are. I hope you all had a super terrific day and got totally spoiled!

I had a very special day. It was weird to be celebrating mother's day as a mommy, but so awesome. Being a mom is the greatest thing ever! We went to church in the morning and Aurora slept through the whole thing - she was such an angel all day! Then we went over to my parent's for lunch and spent most of the day there. I got totally spoiled - we had burgers, onion rings, and lots of other yummy stuff along with homemade ice cream and toll house pie for dessert. Everything I requested :) Which was super nice especially considering that it was mother's day for my Mom, but she's always making things special for me - we share a birthday and she does the same thing - always puts me first even though it is her special day too. That's why I have the best Mom ever. That and lots of other reasons :)

It was a nice relaxing day. Nick got me flowers - roses and lilies - and a beautiful cross necklace that has a mustard seed in the middle (so cool!!!!!) For anyone that doesn't know the symbolism its from Matthew 17 where Jesus talks about faith the size of a mustard seed could move mountains. Very cool - I love it! And I got Starbucks and Pier 1 gift cards (time to go shopping!!!!), some adorable clothes for Aurora, and some scrapbooking stuff. My family is awesome.

After my parent's house we came home and played with Aurora, had pizza, and watched Ocean's 13. I couldn't have asked for a better day :)

3 Little Disasters

Disaster #1: We tried to go out to dinner again. And again tried to go to Buffalo Wild Wings. We are really starting to form a love-hate relationship with that place. We LOVE the food - but HATE going there - it is always so crowded! And yeah, a Saturday night is probably the worst time to go, but there was a UFC fight on, so it was even more packed than usual. There was a line out the door - so sad :( Then we tried going to Olive Garden instead, but there was a 1/2 hour wait. So we went to McDonalds. Yep - and it tasted so yummy. I love that place. But I had really been looking forward to wings. But an hour and 1/2 after we'd left the house I was starving so Micky D's it was.

Disaster #2: I tried to take Aurora to Nick's baseball game Sunday - her first one. I thought she'd have fun and enjoy the fresh air. Nope. She fussed the entire time. For 3 hours. All the usual tricks didn't work and she was just mad the whole time. I asked Nick if he could hear her screaming and he said no so I was thankful for that - that she wasn't distracting the players. I was tempted to leave though - it was so bad. It makes me not want to try that again, but I figure that she'll get over it eventually...

Disaster #3: I should have seen this one coming. It was only a matter of time. I stick my face in Aurora's so much - she gets LOTS of kisses. Well, we were goofing around and I was giving her eskimo kisses and then all of a sudden she projectile barfed right in my face and it went up my nose! Yes - I got baby barf up my nose. Now how many people can say that? :)

But all in all it was a productive weekend at least. We got some yardwork done so that was nice and Nick got a lot of things crossed off his to-do list. But it was a short weekend - 2 day weekends go so fast!
